Need a vacation? How about a cruise!

I'm in a rut, itching for a change of scenery. When I hear about a cruise for supernaturals, I'm ready to jump onboard. I'm used to serving supernaturals where I bartend at a retro rock club and feel more comfortable around those who are different. An Alaskan cruise sounds like the perfect escape. I can admire stunning scenery and sip late-night cocktails while we sail.

Then I meet a hot guitarist while attending his classic rock cover show. One teensy (or make that huge) problem. I'm squeamish about blood, and he's a vampire. No way, no day.

He accidentally sprays me with blood, and we're both so mortified we could dive overboard.

One thing is clear: I plan to avoid Damien for the rest of this cruise.

I pulled the door open and stopped dead.

Alone in the hallway stood Damien just a few feet away. His head was tilted back as he downed a blood bag pressed to his lips.

Eww...

He jolted upright and opened his eyes, pinning them on me with a horrified expression—which must have mirrored my own.

We froze, staring at each other for an excruciatingly long second before he jerked back and tightened his clutch on the bag. A spray of red arced my way.

"Oh no—" he muttered.

A strange yelp escaped me as I stumbled backward into the closed bathroom door, just as the blood hit my cheek. It was warm and gooey and utterly disgusting.

"Yech!" I flapped my arms like a duck, desperate to get the blood off me.

One thing was for certain--I'd avoid this vampire for the rest of this cruise.
